The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team will be head into the quarter-final against Argentina in a confident mood as they hammered the New Zealand 7s team 50-7 in the final pool match.
This was the record number of points Fiji has scored against their rivals.
Coach Gareth Baber says the team did exactly what they wanted to do.
He says there is a lot of history between Fiji and New Zealand and he told the players to play how they will always play against New Zealand.
Baber says they need to take each game at a time.
Fiji scored 8 tries in the match against New Zealand.
Fiji’s tries was scored by Vatemo Ravouvou, Kalione Nasoko, Josua Vakurinabili, Amenoni Nasilasila while Eroni Sau and Alasio Naduva scored two tries each.
Barring any upsets, Fiji is likely to meet South Africa or Spain in the semi final and Kenya or USA in the final.
The semifinals will start at 7.41pm tonight while the final will be held at 11pm.
