A 53-year-old man charged with attempting to bribe a public official has been remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court.

It is alleged that Kamlesh Chand tried to bribe a Police prosecutor in the Suva Prosecution office by offering money to remove one of his friend’s files on Tuesday.

Police Prosecutor Corporal Monish Chandra informed the court that Chand has a pending theft case and had objected to his bail.

The matter has been adjourned to 10th May for plea.
