The National Disaster Management Office is yet to determine how many stoves have been given out and how many stoves there were to begin with, in the wake of the disaster relief work being carried out in the Western Division.
Stoves and kerosene are being handed out in the areas that were affected by flooding in the West, especially in Ba after relief teams saw there was a need for cooking vessels while they were handing out food rations.
NDMO Director, Anare Leweniqila says the stoves were donated by an individual and they do not know yet on the original number that was donated.
Leweniqila says they will only know the amount when the team finishes handing out the stoves and when they report back to them.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had earlier said that the NDMO needs to know how many stoves there are and how many are yet to be distributed.
The Prime Minister had stressed that abuse of funds by government officials will not be tolerated.
He has also said that the distribution of rations and even delivery of water should be fair.
