Registration and distribution for Homes-Care initiative cards which is part of government’s Cyclone Assistance Relief Effort has been rolled out from this week.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had announced that this is a programme that cuts across government ministries and departments to aid those Fijians impacted by the back to back onslaughts of Tropical Cyclones Josie and Keni.
Under the Homes Care, households with an annual income of under $50,000 who have lost items in their homes or whose homes were damaged or destroyed in the cyclones can apply to receive prepaid electronic cards to purchase materials to repair their homes and replace possessions that were lost or badly damaged.
The Homes-CARE programme will be open for three months and will aid recipients until 31st July to fully utilise their cards.
Meanwhile Fijians who meet the eTransport-CARE eligibility requirements have until the 21st of this month to register, which allows those using permanent eTransport cards to receive $50 free top-up and students with unsubsidized yellow e-Transport cards will receive $25.
