The Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji is currently investigating an incident where a Cessna 182 aircraft was involved in an accident at around 11.30am in the coastal waters off Denarau yesterday.

It is understood that the aircraft crash landed into water.

In a statement the Department of Civil Aviation has said that the Department of Environment has also been notified of this incident and recovery efforts will be coordinated through the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji.

At the time of the incident only one pilot was on board who is reported to be safe.

Inspectors have been deployed to the site for a preliminary investigations which is classified as a ‘Serious Incident’.
