139 households of the Waidradra and Nadranu Settlements in Ba now have access to piped drinking water after the completion of their Rural Water Project.

Chairman for the Waidradra and Nadranu Water Committee Joji Degei said he was grateful for undertaking the $189,000 project that has now made life a lot easier for their community.

Degei adds that they are very thankful that this water project has come to their place and this is the first time ever for them to have taps.

The 35-year-old says that prior to the project, women and children had to fetch water from a nearby river or from a distant borehole.

Degei says the villagers used horses to help carry their water back to their homes.

Water Authority of Fiji says the, project included the repair of the existing dam wall and the installation of a new 150mm outlet, as well as the construction of a 45,460 litre water tank.
