The Fiji Sugar Corporation has confirmed that 60 mechanical cane harvesters are expected to be utilized this cane crushing season.

FSC has stated that 30% of the crops will be mechanically harvested in 2019.

The Corporation intends to ensure that harvesters operate at optimum capacity, so that maximum cane can be harvested hence six of these harvesters will be operated by FSC.

This will also result with an increase in income for harvester operators.

FSC has so far taken delivery of three new harvesters and another three are expected to arrive in July 2018.

The Corporation remains committed to increasing the number of harvesters in operation and will conduct a review on the current harvesting capacities to evaluate the timing of when more mechanical harvesters are required.
