The Employment Ministry is now closely working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in particular with the Roving Ambassador’s Office for the employment opportunities and awareness conducted to other neighbouring Pacific Island countries that employ Fijian workers.

The Roving Ambassador’s Office has so far met with Fijian workers currently working in Tonga, Samoa, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Nauru and Kiribati.

This is being done in response to the current complaints received by the Ministry in ensuring workers are well looked after in countries they are deployed to.

A government statement says to date, the  Ministry of Employment has prosecuted two companies with one currently before the Employment Relations Tribunal whilst two other individuals from Labasa and Sigatoka respectively, are being investigated jointly by the Labour Compliance Section and the Fiji Police Force.
