The contracts of four police officers have been terminated this year after it was found that they were at fault for either speeding or unauthorized use of a police vehicle.

This was highlighted by Acting Deputy Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu during the opening of the police drivers and riders refresher course.

Tudravu says this morning he was reading an appeal of one of the drivers who wants to come back to the force and he adds that his hands are tied.

He adds that whilst they acknowledge the officers contributions, they must look after the police vehicles.

55 police officers from the Southern Division and the Police Headquarters will be receiving a certificate at the end of the day for their participation in the workshop.

Tudravu says the reason police vehicles have been wrecked is due to the police drivers attitude.

Tudravu says these drivers who are part of the workshop will be given a permit ID card to show that they are classified and are above the normal drivers in the police force.

Any police driver stopped on the roads will be asked for this permit ID and if the driver does not have it, then they will be deemed as an unauthorised police driver.

All together there are 737 police drivers who will be participating in this workshop which will move to the west and the North later in the month.
