Imshad Izrar Ali who is charged for the murder of his partner told the court that he created a false story to persuade police officers so that they don't torture and assault him.
Ali is charged with the murder of his 34 year old partner at their Howell Road home in Suva in 2009.
The deceased who was a kindergarten teacher was allegedly strangled to death inside her home.
Ali during cross examination told the court that when he was giving his caution interview the police officers tortured him and assaulted him to say that he had allegedly killed his partner.
State lawyer Meli Vosawale put to Ali that at no point were his caution interview answers fabricated.
Ali said the answers were fabricated and that is why he was not allowed to read his caution interview statement.
He further told the court that the charging officer had made a false promise when he told Ali that the court looks at intention and he further gave moral values of the Quran.
Ali said the Inspector told him that if he doesn't sign the statement he will be in more problems.
Vosawale further suggested to Ali that he committed the offence intending that his partner does not live.
Ali responded by saying it was false and that he loved his partner.
Ali also told that court whilst in police custody he was only given food however there was no mattress, pillow, blanket or medical attention provided to him.
The summing up will be on Thursday.
