Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber says despite potentially picking 12 World Cup debutants, he believes that the World Sevens Series games for the national side has conditioned them to perform consistently.
After announcing his 16 men travelling squad to Utah, Baber says that if they can blend their power and pace right, then they will give their opponents something they have not seen before.
Baber adds that they will be using the camp to focus on speed of the game, seeing how the players move around the park in attack and defence.
The national side will play warm up matches with quality teams including a Tongan invitational side, the US Armys side and other US touring teams.
Baber will name his final 12 around July 18th.
The team will have their final training session at Prince Charles Park this afternoon before flying out at 7 tonight for a two‑week preparation camp.
Fiji open their Rugby World Cup 7s campaign against the winner of Qualifying Match 7, either Japan or Uruguay on Saturday 21st July at 3.53pm.
The squad includes: Josua Vakurinabili, Semi Kunatani, Kalione Nasoko, Jasa Veremalua, Paula Dranisinukula, Leone Nakarawa, Apenisa Cakaubalavu, Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu, Amenoni Nasilasila, Vatemo Ravouvou, Eroni Sau, Alasio Naduva, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Josua Tuisova and Semi Radradra.
