Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama stresses that the government does not have any say in individual cases of FNPF withdrawals after a request made in a talanoa session in Labasa.
Bainimarama says FNPF makes the decisions on partial withdrawals for medical assistance based on individual member accounts.
He advised the man from Labasa to deal directly with FNPF and to check his eligibility.
According to FNPF’s early partial withdrawal criteria for medical assistance, the amount applied must be within the member’s General Account entitlement, assistance may be provided for prosthetic, hearing aid and wheelchair and payment will be made directly to the supplier.
Where the member’s General Account entitlement is less than 50% of the cost of the full treatment, the member must submit receipts of payment made to medical institute or show evidence of funding the balance.
All the necessary medical reports and cost details need to be submitted with the request.
