The 2-year-old girl who was found wandering alone in Makoi yesterday morning, is currently admitted at the CWM Hospital for observation and will be released into the care of her grandparents.
Police say that the process is mandatory in all cases of missing children where a child will have to undergo medical checks before they are released into the care of a parent or guardian.
The mother remains in custody and is under investigation for alleged negligence.
Early yesterday, Police requested for information to help identify the 2-year-old girl who was found wandering alone outside the home of a police officer at Pritam Singh Road in Makoi.
The young girl was at Totogo Police Station from early yesterday morning.
The mother came forward after relatives allegedly informed her of the request after seeing the plea on social media.
