19-year-old Deepak Kumar who is charged with one count of murder has been remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court.
It is alleged that Kumar drove his vehicle in a reckless manner and his conduct caused the death of 7-year-old girl last Saturday.
Kumar allegedly hit the victim who was crossing the road with an adult and another child.
The accident occurred at the junction of Foster Road and Tamavua i Wai after 8pm.
The man reported the matter at the Delainavesi Police Post.
Officers and bystanders removed the victim and rushed her to the CWM Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The case has been transferred to the Suva High Court and will be called on the 7th of next month.
