The 19-year-old man who allegedly caused the death of a 7-year-old girl following an accident on Saturday night has been charged.
The man has been charged with murder following a review of the elements of the case by investigators.
The alleged accident occurred at the junction of Foster Road and Tamavua‑i‑Wai after 8pm.
The man allegedly hit the victim who was crossing the road with an adult and another child.
The man reported the matter at the Delainavesi Police Post.
Officers and bystanders removed the victim and rushed her to the CWM Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The road death toll currently stands at 35 compared to 36 for the same period last year.
