Ngani Laumape’s professional development is not confined to a kicking and passing game or making good reads on defence.
As Hurricanes meet the Crusaders in their Super Rugby semifinal in Christchurch this Saturday, Laumape will confront the Crusaders’ pair of Ryan Crotty and Jack Goodhue.
Like Laumape, Goodhue and Crotty are All Blacks and they, along with Sonny Bill Williams and Anton Lienert‑Brown, form what Laumape has previously called the tightest mini‑group in the team.
Laumape says it’s a friendly rivalry, but a rivalry all the same.
The Crusaders will host the Hurricanes in the first semifinal at 7.35pm Saturday while the Lions will host the Waratahs at 1.05am Sunday.
