18 people were produced in the Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday for allegedly disobeying lawful orders as they were found drinking in a public place last Friday.
The accused were allegedly found drinking at Narara Parade, Vitogo Parade and Yasawa Street and when asked to disperse from the respective areas by police, had allegedly refused to do so.
They have been charged with one count of disobedience of lawful order and have been released on strict bail conditions.
The Court has also ordered the people to remain indoors from 7pm to 6am daily, not to re-offend and not to interfere with witnesses.
The case will be called again on the 8th of October 2018.
Members of the public are reminded that it is an offence to be drinking in public places or in vehicles within municipal boundaries as the Liquor Act prohibits the act.
