Atelaite Baleisuva appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with one count of failure to provide necessities.
The 21-year-old is the mother of the 2-year-old girl who was found wandering alone outside the home of a police officer at Pritam Singh Road in Makoi on Monday.
The charge was read to her in court and she understood the charge.
Baleisuva had come forward after relatives allegedly informed her of the request after seeing the plea on social media.
She has been granted bail by Magistrate Charles Ratakele.
Magistrate Ratakele told the Baleisuva that she has been charged with being irresponsible but the court expects her to be responsible and follow her bail conditions.
