Despite one’s condition, if you have a spade and a fork, anything is possible.
These are the words of 41-year-old Kalisu Uluitoga who is a farmer by profession.
Uluitoga has been on a wheelchair for the past ten years and has managed to look after his family without any assistance.
He is setting an example for everyone that intends to choose the path of crime to provide for themselves.
Uluitoga’s wife, 39-year-old Mariana Sauriva says her husband had his first operation in 2002.
She says life has been very good so far despite the struggles as the feeling of making it to the finish line on their own brings its own joy.
Sauriva says her husband through his backyard farming and her hand-made jewelry made ends meet.
Uluitoga underwent his first operation because of a backache in 2002, from then onwards he began having difficulties in walking and in the year 2008 he was on a wheelchair.
Now, 10-years later, on a wheelchair, Uluitoga still does not rely on any sort of assistance to send his son to school and take care of the daily expenses for his family of three.
He says he earns approximately $600 in a month which is enough for the simple life that his family lives.
Uluitoga is a role model for everyone who is struggling to make ends meet that even with a disability there is nothing that stops you from finishing the race.
