Constitutional lawyer Richard Naidu says the National Federation Party has always continued its work and has never forgotten why it was founded and that it has a duty to serve.

While speaking at the Party AGM Convention in Ba, Naidu says a good political party builds leadership, in good times and bad and not just in Parliament.

Naidu says they need leaders in the villages and settlements, in churches and other religious places, in sports and community organisations, in health and in education adding this is where the real work gets done.

Meanwhile, NFP has announced that they will be increasing the monthly pension of Veterans, Retired Ex‑Servicemen and Returning Soldiers by 50% if they form the next government.

Party President Pio Tikoduadua says this will increase from $200 to $300 a month.

Tikoduadua also reiterated that if they form the next government they will increase the price of one tonne of sugar to $100.

He adds this is not just their promise, it is their pledge to bring back smiles to the faces of the growers, their families, cane cutters, farm workers and indeed some 200,000 people who are directly or indirectly dependant on the industry for their livelihood.

Tikoduadua also highlighted that the NFP will increase the minimum wage rate to $5 from $2.68.

He says they will do this responsibly without hurting businesses, particularly, small and medium businesses and their  manifesto will have details on how they will do it.
