The woman who allegedly harbored escaped remand prisoner Nacanieli Bakata has been granted bail by the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
She is charged with two counts of harboring a prisoner.
She has been granted bail with a bond of $1,000 and two sureties.
The matter has been adjourned to the 24th of October for mention.
The woman has been asked not to leave Viti Levu and to report to the Nadi Police Station every Saturday.
She has also been asked not to interfere with the witnesses involved in the case.
Police say the accused is Bakata’s partner and upon investigations it was discovered that she had allegedly assisted Bakata on two different occasions since his escape from Police custody on the 17th of this month.
They say the accused is alleged to have taken food to Bakata on the 19th and 21st of this month in Korociri and Votualevu.
The three men escaped from the Nadi Police Station on the 17th of this month.
