This weekend’s Super Rugby final will not only be a memorable one for the Crusaders as it will also be Seta Tamanivalu’s last Super Rugby game for the Crusaders before leaving for France next season.
The Fiji born winger has achieved more than what he has dreamt of during his childhood days and is now just one game away from taking his little family to Europe.
With the birth of his baby, Tamanivalu knew the time was right to leave New Zealand.
He will leave New Zealand to join French club Bordeaux later this season.
The former Lelean Memorial School student said the timing was right in terms of commencing a three‑year deal with Bordeaux, reported to be worth around FJD$1.42 million a year, which will start at the beginning of the 2018‑19 northern season.
26-year-old Tamanivalu made three test appearances in 2016; twice he appeared as a substitute against Wales, and was also used as a replacement against Australia.
All were in the midfield.
He won the ITM Cup Player of the Year Award in 2014 after a thrilling season for Taranaki, played First XV rugby for St Kentigern’s in Auckland before heading to the Spotswood United club in Taranaki in 2012 and featured for the Fiji Under 18 Rugby League team.
Tamanivalu will start on the wing when the Crusaders takes on the Lions at 7.35pm Saturday in the Super Rugby final.
