Prosecution lawyer Taitusi Tuenuku has objected to the bail application of Tevita Deve who is alleged to have murdered his 21‑year‑old wife on the 4th of March this year.
Deve is charged with one count each of murder and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Prosecution says the offense committed is serious.
The defense has sought seven days to respond to the bail objection.
It is alleged that Deve on the 4th of March assaulted his 21‑year‑old wife and murdered her by making her drink the toxic chemical, paraquat.
The alleged incident happened in a village in Ovalau.
The woman was admitted in the hospital for a few days before passing away.
