Fiji will be hosting the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum on Global Health in 2019.
Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni made the announcement at the end of the 2018 Forum that was held in Manila in Philippines last week.
The Asia-Pacific Paliamentarian Forum on Global Health is a platform for parliamentarians to exchange ideas, build political will, strengthen capacities and foster collaboration towards sustainable action for health.
Dr Luveni thanked member countries for supporting Fiji’s bid to host the Forum next year.
She says in the first week of May 2019, Fiji will host the Annual Board of Directors Meeting of the Asian Development Bank, which based on the figures that attended the meeting in Manila,
earlier this year, it is expected that between 3500 to 4000 people will be coming to Fiji for that 1 week meeting.
Dr Luveni says in 2017 the Fiji Parliament hosted the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum for about 270 participants.
The Fijian Parliament will be the focal point of the conference and the Speaker assured the members that the Fiji Conference will be a great success and expose the members to the world renowned Fijian hospitality.
