The Fiji Police Force and the Melanesian Spearhead Group Secretariat have signed an agreement on the secondment of a Police Liaison Officer to the secretariat for three months.
Director General Amena Yauvoli says the memorandum of understanding will allow them to facilitate the request from PNG to the Melanesian Spearhead Group States to assist in PNG’s efforts to provide security in its hosting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting from the 12th to the 18th of November this year.
Yauvoli says the role of the Police Liaison Officer within the Secretariat will be to organize the movement of security personnel from the member states to PNG.
US President Donald Trump will be attending the APEC Summit in November.
