Minister for Employment Jone Usamate says if fathers of a child ‑ even if they were in a defacto relationship with the mother‑ are also eligible for the five day paternity leave announced in the 2018-2019 National Budget.
Usamate highlighted this during a consultation with employers in Savusavu on the new employee incentives as introduced in the 2018/2019 National Budget.
He says there is also a 300% tax rebate for the employment of persons with disabilities.
Usamate says the government believes that a safe work place has benefits for the worker as it keeps a person healthy and when you have a healthy worker, or when a worker feels safe, it contributes to productivity for the company.
