Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum today signed necessary documents with the executives of Fiji Care Insurance Limited which will start the insurance scheme that will cover 107,417 Fijians.

72,376 are social welfare recipients and 35,041 are civil servants which include people in the Fiji Police Force, RFMF and some independent bodies who are covered under the scheme.

The Managing Director of Fiji Care Peter McPherson says the government will pay the whole premium bill which means that the underprivileged and the civil servants will not pay any premium for their insurance.

The Fijian government will spend between 7 to 8 million dollars every year for the insurance scheme.
