A 14-year-old student of Labasa is admitted in the Labasa Hospital Children’s ward after he sustained injuries from an incident in Batinikama, Labasa yesterday.
The victim was walking along the tramline with his brother when a locomotive approached them from behind.
Police say that instead of moving to the side, it is alleged the boys tried to outrun the locomotive whereby the victim’s flip flop got caught between the tracks.
It is alleged that while the locomotive was passing the two, the victim used his right leg to try and retrieve his flip flop from between the passing trailer.
His leg however got caught and was trapped under a trailer and he sustained injuries as a result.
