Billy Slater has pulled out of Melbourne’s Round 25 clash with the Panthers due to a family emergency.

Storm coach Craig Bellamy revealed the veteran fullback had to withdraw from the squad.

It is likely that young utility Jahrome Hughes will take Slater’s place in the team.

If Melbourne beats the Panthers they will secure the NRL’s minor premiership. But if they lose they can still be knocked off the top spot in the last round of the season.

The Storm will play the Panthers at 9.55pm tomorrow.
