The Fijian Elections Office today made it clear that the only security involved in the 2018 General Election will be the Fiji Police Force.
This has been clarified by the Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem.
Saneem has rejected the claims made by some people especially on social media saying that a private security company will be responsible for the security of the 2018 election.
Meanwhile the Supervisor of Elections has also stressed that 41 centres or hot-spots will continue to be open around the country this week and into next week for Fijians to take advantage of their services before the Writ Of Elections is issued.
He adds that around 4,366 voters took advantage of their awareness campaign last week including the outside broadcast that they did over the weekend.
Saneem says that from this figure, there were confirmation of 142 cases of voters who have deceased while around 3,000 voters either corrected their details or replaced their cards.
438 new voters have also registered within this period.
Saneem is again calling on people not to leave things to the last minute as there is still time for updating of details and registration.
