Firefighters have managed to contain a fire that destroyed four shops in Sigatoka Town yesterday afternoon.
Chief Fire Officer, Qionilau Moceitai has confirmed that the fire started from Raveendra’s Restaurant and spread to three other shops before firefighters were able to contain the blaze.
Moceitai says two people are being treated for smoke inhalation and there were no other reports of any injuries.
The Sigatoka Fire Station says that firefighters had quickly responded after receiving a call about the fire in Sigatoka at 1.15pm this afternoon.
Moceitai has also confirmed that firefighters from the Sigatoka Fire Station are still at the scene adding that firefighters from Korolevu and Nadi also assisted in controlling the fire.
He says that they have begun their investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire.
