Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says 80 years of competition among the national football family is certainly worth celebrating.
The Prime Minister has officially opened the 80th Courts IDC tournament at ANZ Stadium.
Bainimarama says people say Fiji is a rugby nation, this is not a secret but he says Fiji is a football nation as well.
He says sports such as football is where young people learn how to work as a team.
He says it is where they learn that their success does not only depend on the individual but it depends on the team effort.
The Prime Minister says when he was RFMF Commander they used to get thrashed by the Police in soccer every year.
He reminisced of the time he was at a game and a Captain Narayan was the Team manager for the RFMF Soccer team.
