With the hurt and struggle of losing both parents while pursuing to complete his education, 20-year-old Rusiate Ratidara will today reap the rewards of his hard work.
Ratidara who is the Head Boy of Pundit Shreedhar Maharaj College in Wainibokasi is thankful to his church Pastor and his wife, Mr and Mrs Seruvatu as well as his teachers for helping him complete his High School education.
Ratidara will be amongst the 35 Year 13 students who will be graduating at the schools Annual Prize Giving this morning.
Speaking to Fijivillage Ratidara says he would spend long hours studying after completing his daily chores as he felt he was further behind everyone else in his class.
Ratidara also spoke about the difficulty of losing his father at the age of 14 years before being enrolled in Year 9 in 2013 at the age of 16 years.
He says that despite the difficulty of losing both parents, his church Pastor who is today his legal guardian and his teachers who would fundraise to provide his lunch encouraged him to continue with his education.
Ratidara says that following his Prize Giving Ceremony today, he looks forward to applying to USP or FNU to study to become a teacher.
