The new Tamavua-i-Wai bridge replacement is scheduled for the third quarter of next year.
This has been confirmed by Fiji Roads Authority CEO Jonathan Moore after Fijivillage asked him about the replacement modular bridge that was supposed to be installed this year.
Moore says the replacement bridge contract was awarded in early October 2018 and the contractor is carrying out design and procurement work.
Meanwhile Moore says while the additional studies were being undertaken on the current Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge, FRA carried out strengthening works on the bridge.
This is still underway.
He says FRA also had to coordinate future works with other stakeholders that are part of the future plans to deliver the 4‑laning project between Suva to Lami.
