Crusaders coach Scott Robertson kept his cards close to his chest over the prospect of becoming the next All Blacks coach, following the shock retirement of front runner Joe Schmidt.

As Ireland coach Schmidt revealed that he'll walk away from coaching after next year's World Cup, and with All Blacks boss Steve Hansen's future unclear after 2019, Robertson is now among a handful of candidates in contention to take the reigns of the New Zealand side.

Robertson says when you are a coach, you have to look at all the options and that is what he is doing at moment.

He says the All Black job doesn't come up that often and when it does, you have to have a really good look at it.
