Minister for Forestry Osea Naiqamu has lashed out at SODELPA MP Mitieli Bulanauca saying that Bulanauca is out of touch with reality and probably his memory is stuck in the darker days of the 1990s and the early 2000 when he was a Minister under the Qarase Government.
Naiqamu highlighted this in parliament saying that times have changed however the lies have not changed.
Naiqamu says that during the election campaign, the Opposition spun new sets of lies by saying that a transformation of the Pine Industry was done through the US$50 million climate fund.
He adds that until 2012, landowners did not receive any returns from the operations and profitability of the Fiji Pine Group.
Naiqamu says that 2013 was the first year when landowners received this return with a humble sum of $347,440 and this year the returns to the landowners increased to $7 million.
Naiqamu also spoke about SODELPA MP Niko Nawaikula’s post on Facebook about these returns.
