It was a night to remember as the Attorney‑General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum hosted artists, members of the diplomatic corps and guests to a special VIP visual display which celebrated plans for the first ever Fijian National Gallery of Contemporary Arts last night.
Speaking at the event Sayed‑Khaiyum says that this project will need a lot of assistance and hand holding as this is the first of its kind for Fiji.
He says that it also gives an insight on our origins
Sayed‑Khaiyum says that this is important also because artist can lose their potential if it is not nurtured.
Also speaking at the event, Fijian Award winning artist Sheinina Raj says that this is a milestone for Fiji and it’s artists.
Raj also briefly shared her story as an individual and an artist.
The National Gallery of Contemporary Arts is located in Victoria Parade, Suva.
The doors to the new gallery will be opened in 2020.
