118 families in Seaqaqa are now embarking on a new journey following the commissioning of the $3.4million Grid Extension Project by the Minister for Infrastructure Jone Usamate.
Usamate says that the project will benefit 600 Fijians in Seaqaqa and one that would propel the lives of their people, for generations, towards higher standard of living.
The Minister adds that the government has set aside an additional $60 million dollars to add another 6,623 households to the more than 25,000 Fijian households who have already felt the benefits of electrification development.
He says that over the past five years, the Fijian Government has pumped in $224 million towards the energy sector that has directly resulted in ordinary Fijians enjoying a better life.
Usamate reiterated that the Government through its Look North Policy will continue to put in place proper, sustainable and dynamic infrastructure.
Other major grid extension projects taking place in the Seaqaqa area include Solove Stage 1 at a cost of $3.3 million, with 106 families, and Lagalaga settlement at a cost of $4.45 million with 264 families.
