Fiji has been included in the Under 12 Baseball World Cup after being awarded the wild card entry by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation.
President of the Fiji Baseball & Softball Association, Takao Mochida says they were overwhelmed after receiving the news adding this is a big chance to promote the sport after close to 20 years of development in the country.
This is the first Fiji Baseball team to compete in a Baseball world cup. The tournament will be held in Chinese Taipei with 12 nations competing.
Fiji is currently ranked 75th in the World in Baseball.
The 2019 Baseball Under 12 World Cup will be held for the 13th to the 19th of August and the team that will be representing Fiji will be finalized on the 1st of June.
