The issue of climate change and disaster displacement is no longer a matter of discussion but rather demands that all must act now.

This was highlighted by the Permanent Secretary for Disaster Management & Meteorological Services Taitusi Vakadravuyaca while speaking at the UN Trust Fund for Human Security Project launch and stakeholder meeting on Climate Change and Disaster Displacement at the Holiday Inn.

Vakadravuyaca adds that the stakeholder consultation will contribute to identify and address possible solutions to one of the most challenging issues that we are facing today‑ that is the issue of climate change and disaster displacement.

He stressed that in order to mitigate risks, nations including Fiji must improve its state of preparedness.

The Permanent Secretary also highlighted that in response to the issues of climate change and disaster displacement, the outcome of the two days deliberations should enhance the collaboration amongst countries and development partners.

Vakadravuyaca stressed that countries and stakeholders must work together to create a resilient community, and this means sharing our resources, knowledge and building the capacity of our people
