Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum did not answer a question by the Leader of Opposition Sitiveni Rabuka as Sayed-Khaiyum said that the question was flawed.
Rabuka asked the Attorney General to explain the key criteria used in the waiver of tenders on purchase of goods and services above $50,000 as required under the Procurement (Amendment) Regulations 2012, particularly regulation 29(3).
Sayed-Khaiyum stressed that the opposition needs to check the facts and Rabuka’s question was wrong.
SODELPA MP Mosese Bulitavu persisted to ask a supplementary question but when denied by the Speaker of Parliament, he went on to raise a point of order.
Rabuka went on to raise a point of order at the end of the parliament sitting and said that he believes the Attorney General should answer the question.
The Attorney General again highlighted that the Leader of Opposition’s question is incorrect.
Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau then suggested that the question can be considered later on in the week in replacement of one of the questions.
