The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team is just a step away from creating history by becoming the first team to win the Hong Kong 7s for the 5th consecutive year.

Fiji defeated USA 28-19 in a thrilling Cup semifinal.

Sevuloni Mocenacagi scored Fiji’s first try and the Fijians were solid in their defence despite the strong attacking skills from USA.

USA’s Carlin Isles replied with a try soon after to level the score at 7-all.

Filioni Botitu crossed the try line for Fiji’s second try at the halftime hooter where Fiji led 14-7.

Fiji absolutely dominated in attack and defence in the second half denying USA their first win over Fiji in the history of the Hong Kong 7s.

Fiji’s other tries came from Alasio Naduva who scored twice in the second half.

Jerry Tuwai was in good form throughout the game as he was influential in setting up Naduva’s second try.

The win against USA was also Fiji’s 30th consecutive win in Hong Kong as they have not lost a match in Happy Valley since March 2014.

The second Cup semifinal is currently underway between Samoa and France.

The Cup final is at 11 o’clock tonight.
