A 19-year-old woman who is charged for allegedly falsifying information to police about being abducted by three men over the weekend has been released on bail.
Atelaite Kali Turagakerei of Legalega Nadi appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court and has been told to report to Namaka Police Station.
Turagakerei will take her plea on the 27th of next month.
Police say Turagakerei informed Lautoka Police that she was allegedly abducted by three unknown men from the Lautoka Wharf last Saturday afternoon and taken to a house in Nadi.
She revealed she was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted.
Police say Turagakerei further claimed that she regained consciousness in another flat and managed to escape to a nearby cane field and sought help from neighbors and asked for clothes and money.
Police say during the course of investigations, the claims could not be verified and witnesses had come forward alleging she was seen in Lautoka City and medical reports have proven the alleged sexual assault claims to be false.
