Friday night could be the first glimpse at the Crusaders' long‑term midfield partnership.
Jack Goodhue and Braydon Ennor will partner in the midfield against the Sharks at Christchurch Stadium, in a match, Kieran Read will bring up his 150th Super Rugby game for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders have also opted to start exciting outside back Will Jordan ‑ at fullback, in place of the rested David Havili this week.
The Crusaders will take on the Sharks at 7.35pm this Friday while Reds take on the Sunwolves at 9.45pm.
