It was a happy moment for 38-year-old Iosefo Romulo Vukevuke as he graduated with a Certificate IV in Music from FNU’s College of Humanities and Education earlier this week.

Vukevuke who has been partially blind since birth was given a standing ovation from teachers and graduates as he received his certificate from FNU’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Healey.

Vukevuke says that one of the reasons he had done this program is to enhance his skills in teaching which he adds that he would like to be a teacher in primary school level.

He says that his disability does not stop him from getting involved socially with friends and community activities.

Vukevuke says that due to his disability learning was tough as he could not clearly see but through the support of FNU’s academic staff he was able to complete his studies.

Vukevuke urges people living with disability to strive for excellence in education and everything they take part in and not to look down at their disabilities as a wall to striving for excellence.
