Former New Zealand 7's Captain DJ Forbes has highlighted that recently more rugby players are fighting depression as rugby has shifted from being a sport for fun to one that players depend on to support their families.
Forbes highlighted this while speaking at the Lifeline Fiji Gala Dinner last night which was held at GPH.
He adds that for this reason, players face a lot of pressure with people relying on them and some may have the support network to deal with such issues while others do not.
Forbes also says that he holds dear to him the relationship he has built from playing against the Fiji 7's team and his frequent visits to Fiji.
He says one of his best memories playing against Fiji was during the Olympics quarter finals as it was very tough.
Forbes says the New Zealand and Fiji 7's teams have a love hate relationship.
