“ Its about love, compassion and caring for others - not only because they are family but because you have that human heart.”

These are the words of the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa while speaking about the Loloma Project and the role that families play in each case.

She says that the Ministry looks at people who live on the streets and attempts to get them off the streets.

Vuniwaqa says that they find that a lot of these people keep returning to the streets.

The Minister says that most people that return to the streets is that some of them are psycho-social cases.

She says that there is an MOU between the Ministry of Women and the Fiji Police Force, and upon receiving reports of beggars and people living on the streets the police make rounds and try to put them to homes or back to their families.
