Nine children between 4 to 13 years of age passed away in separate road accidents last year.
This was highlighted by the LTA’s Road Safety Education Team Leader, Watilala Fonu during the launch of the LTA Kids Safe Awareness Campaign.
She says six of the nine children were pedestrians while three were passengers at the time of the accident.
Fonu says the Kids Safe Campaign targets children from the ages of 4 to 13 years and the month of May has been dedicated to raising the level of road safety consciousness among young people.
The Land Transport Authority has also launched six new Road Safety Posters as part of its Kids Safe Awareness Campaign this month.
