A 7.2 magnitude earthquake has rattled the Pacific island nation of Papua New Guinea.
The quake hit this morning about 33 kilometres from the country's eastern side and struck at a depth of 127km.

It wasn't immediately clear if there was any major damage.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami threat because the earthquake was so deep.
An official at PNG’s Geophysical Observatory in the capital Port Moresby, Mathew Moiho said there had been no reports of major damage.
