Roy Krishna has given his strongest hint yet that he will stay in Wellington and remain a Phoenix for next season's A‑League.
But with its fourth head coach in three years and only seven players signed on, uncertainty over the club's future could impact his decision.
Krishna told Newshub that obviously he looks to have a long-term deal and that is one of the things they have talked about.
The Fijian international was awarded the Golden Boot and Johnny Warren Medal as the A‑League's Player of the Year in Sydney on Monday night.
He also had a chance to meet with new coach Ufuk Talay for the first time.
Krishna's off contract at the end of the month and clubs across Asia and Australia have been fighting for the league's top goal‑scorer.
Meanwhile, Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Bala today paid tribute to Krishna for his achievements.
